“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”

Joanne Masters Texas Hill Country artist. No truer words were ever spoken. In preparation for writing this artists statement I googled the definition of art. After flipping through page after page, I realized art for me is a feeling not quantifiable by an equation. I have always loved art and color and the emotions they produce. On a whim I took a beading class in 2005. It ignited a flame. Glass, metal and stone became the medium for miniature works of art. Each class led to another and with it, a challenge to take the skill to a higher level. Possibilities became endless.

Inspiration surrounds me. As a piece of jewelry moves from the inspiration to the creative process it takes on a life of its own. I find myself and it becomes what it wants to be. The process is life giving.

My husband, Keith and I moved to Fredericksburg, Texas in 1998 with our two daughters. We are surrounded by the beauty of the Hill Country, two dogs, a cat, a sheep, five goats, two llamas, and too many chickens to count.

Life is good!
