Kathy Davies

Kathy_Davies_bio_photoI’m still trying to discover what I want to do with my life. Just when I get settled in one area, a new and exciting door opens and I am drawn toward another experience. I learned how to execute stained glass creations as well as glass mosaics. I have drawn pencil portraits of children for more than forty years. I even harvested yucca stalks and carved them for walking sticks. After writing and publishing fifteen novels, I took a break 3 years ago and rediscovered clay.

My introduction to pottery was in college with the required classes for an art major, but I opted for the 2-dimensional path. For many years my career has been graphic design and the computer and Creative Suite software became my friend, but now I can’t wait to get to the studio to create a piece I can hold in my hands. Shapes, textures, techniques and glazes are limitless and I am only in the kindergarten stage of knowledge. I have so much to learn and look forward to every minute of the journey. I must admit, my ideas far outweigh my ability to make them reach fruition but I have hopes that as each piece passes through my hands, I can tuck away a bit of information to make the next creation better.
